View over Noah Beach, Cape Tribulation in the background
Camping at Cape Tribulation is available at several private campgrounds
and at the magnificently located National Parks Noah Beach campground,
information below is sourced from www.epa.qld.gov.au:
The National Parks Noah Beach campground is situated 8km south of Cape
Tribulation and has 17 campsites. It does not cater for caravans or larger
campervans as they will not fit in the sites. The camping area may be
closed after heavy rain and throughout the wet season. Fifty metres from
the beach, it is beneath the forest canopy, giving protection from both
the sea breeze and the harsh sun. Camping permits are required and fees
apply. The maximum stay is seven nights.
Some sites are for tents only, while others are specifically designed
for campervans. Toilets and tap water are provided but tap water should
be boiled prior to consumption. The toilet is a bio-cycle system and unsuitable
for disposal of foreign material or waste from chemical disposal units.
No fires are permitted so bring a fuel stove for cooking. All rubbish
must be removed. Biting insects may be present so remember to bring insect
repellent. The forest is very significant so please do not damage any
vegetation.
Noah Creek is a short 1km walk to the south along the beach from the
campground. Crocodiles may be present, so stay away from the waterfs edge
at all times.
Lace monitors (goannas) are often seen patrolling the campground for
food scraps. Do not feed these or any other native animals, and keep food
and rubbish secure on the goanna poles provided. Feeding wildlife can
cause unnatural population increases, illness and aggressive behaviour.
